Description Forzee

Forzee and Wowzee are a pair of innovative solitaire games from BSX International, a small shareware developer that was most famous for the Madame Ching series of adult games that could be found on most BBSes in the early 1990s. While these card games may not excite you (no pun intended) as much as other dubious BSX titles, they will certainly impress you with their unique concepts, excellent execution, and surprising replay value.

Forzee is a single-player card game based on Yahtzee and poker. To be more precise: the game plays like poker, but scores like Yahtzee. Five cards are dealt at the start, and you can discard any number of cards, or none if you wish, and draw new ones. The hand you now hold is scored similarly to Yahtzee for different poker hands. For example, a flush (all five cards of the same suit) gives you 60 points. Four cards with the same face value is called 'Forzee' and is worth 80 points. If you are lucky enough to get it more than once in the same game, you will get 160 points for each additional set. The player who gets 300 points first wins the game.

Wowzee is a similar game, except with the added rules of Mahjongg solitaire: you don't deal cards, but draw them from a pile with one stacked on top of another. As in Mahjongg, you can only remove a card if there is no card stacked on top or immediately next to it. After removing five cards and scoring the hand (based on the scoring rules of Forzee), you have to repeat the process until you have exhausted all scoring possibilities. Once the stack is exhausted, you will be given a new stack to continue.

Both Forzee and Wowzee are interesting, unique and fun card games. Both games feature beautiful EGA graphics and the ability to play in tournament mode. The additional Mahjongg rules make Wowzee the more difficult game of the two, but both games will challenge all card players looking for innovative solitaire games that rely more on skill than pure luck. Highly recommended.

Note: as with other BSX games, both Forzee and Wowzee were advertised as 'shareware' but are identical to the registered version (the authors clearly believed in the goodwill of the players).
