Freddy Hardest was a popular Commodore 64 game released in 1987. Developed by CRL Group, it was the fifth installment of the Freddy series and was met with great success. It featured top-down auto-scrolling gameplay, requiring sharp reflexes and quick thinking to survive.

The objective of the game was to help Fritzy, the protagonist, rescue 9 of his close friends who were kidnapped by the evil gang at the Nemesis Corporation. Freddy was armed with a pistol and had to dodge a variety of obstacles such as moving walls,Traps, and robots. Health was lost with every collision and Freddy only had two lives to complete the mission. Taking on enemies along the way, Fritzy had to be careful not to fire his weapon in the wrong direction and end up taking his own life.

The graphics in the game were vibrant and colorful. Colorful explosions and glowing neon objects illuminated the screen. There were some nice touches in the game, such as when Fritzy was hit, robotic sounds were heard. The background music also had a cool electro soundtrack playing, adding flavor to the gameplay.

The controls in the game were intuitive and easy to pick up, allowing for quick reaction times. This enabled smooth navigation of the various platforms throughout the levels. As players completed each level, they could collect bonus lives and bonus points. This added replay value to the game as well as providing a rush of adrenaline from outsmarting the game’s challenging obstacles.

The longevity of Freddy Hardest lies in its challenge. Levels were cleverly designed to make the game a great test of skill and patience.
