Full Throttle

Full Throttle is a video game in the adventure genre developed by LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC and published by LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC originally released in 1995. It is currently playable on DOS.

By the time Full Throttle was released, LucasArts had become the leading developer in the adventure game genre. Their eleventh adventure game, Full Throttle, featured notable changes from their previous games. With action sequences and full-throttle animated videos, it was intended to be the first of the new generation of adventure games. A new pie-shaped context menu, through which interactions with objects and characters were controlled, replaced the old menu and inventory interface. The game was professionally voiced. Finally, a soundtrack composed especially for the game by the rock band The Gone Jackals was included.

While retaining some of the humor of the previous games, the game took a darker twist to its storyline and setting. The story revolves around a biker gang known as the Polecats. In a future version of California, they fight against the advancement of technology and corporate greed. The protagonist, an old-school biker named Ben, gets caught up in the events surrounding an attempt to take over America's last motorcycle manufacturer. Along the way he finds himself and his gang framed for murder, so he must clear their names and ensure that control of the company passes to the rightful heir.

Compared to previous LucasArts games Full Throttle is shorter and with smaller, self-contained locations. Many of the puzzles they contain are not particularly elaborate, and sometimes give the feeling that they are mere interludes between the various cutscenes. However, they are sufficient to bring the story to fruition. The locations are wonderfully dark and foreboding, and the characters are brought to life by the voice actors. Overall, the game manages to be continually engaging, so if you've never hit the road with Ben and his gang, now is the time to do so.
