Getaway Entertainment 6 Pack for Windows

Getaway Entertainment 6 Pack for Windows is a video game in the strategy genre developed by Epyx, Inc. and published by Epyx, Inc. originally released in 1992. It is currently playable on Windows 3.x.

Notable for being Epyx's last game before the company folded, Getaway Entertainment 6 Pack for Windows is a fun collection of arcade/card games that is much better than the very ugly 1987 black and white precursor, Getaway Entertainment Pack.

It's worth noting that the original was black and white only because the game was designed for early laptops (you know, those luggage-sized machines that weigh a ton and are bulkier than desktop PCs ;))), most of which didn't have color screens at the time. This update, designed for Windows 3.1 but will work on later versions, has the same 6 games as the original, and all are fun to pass the time. The games range from the familiar (e.g., Dominoes, Cards), to the derivative (e.g., Mastermind, disguised as a guess the elements game), and even the original (e.g., The Briefcase, my favorite game of the lot). Thanks to the Windows interface, each game comes with a complete online help where you can read the rules or, in some cases, even the background of the mini-game.

Overall, Getaway Entertainment is a fun package that achieves what the designers had in mind: a collection of short, simple games for the laptop, ideal for wasting a few minutes at the airport (or in a meeting, if no one notices ;)). Recommended.

It is possible that we have multiple downloads available when different versions exist.
