Description Go Fish

Go Fish was a card game released by Atari in 1982 for the Atari 8-bit family of computers. The game faithfully recreates the classic Go Fish card game, allowing up to four people to play against each other.

Players take turns trying to collect all four matching sets of cards, such as a set of four queens, within the standard fifty-two card deck. At the start of the game, each player is dealt seven face down cards; each player then selects one card and asks any of the other players whether they have any matching cards. For example, if one player selects the four of diamonds from their hand, they can ask any of the other players if they have any other fours in their hand. If the opponent has any fours, they must reveal them to the asking player.

The game is won when any one player has all four matching sets of cards in their hand. Any time a player has all four matching sets of cards, they must declare themselves the winner of the match. If no set of four matching cards is found, the game ends in a draw.

Go Fish is surprisingly simple and extremely easy to learn, making it the perfect game for children. The game is also surprisingly intense; players must continuously search for any chance to collect a set of four matching cards and call out for them, andevaluate their opponents’ hands to determine whether they have any cards that can help them.

The game is designed to be self contained; all a player needs is either an Atari 8-bit computer or an Atari 8-bit emulated system and the game file itself. The Atari 8-bit computer version of the game incorporates colorful graphics and sound effects, making the game even more immersive and competitive.

Go Fish allowed up to four players to play together, making it an ideal game for family get-togethers. It allowed players to strategize and turn a seemingly difficult problem, collecting all four matching sets of cards, into a game of luck and quick thinking. With its colorful graphics and sound effects, it was surprisingly immersive, making it a joy to play.
