Gold Mine was a 1983 Atari 8-bit game that not only made history but won the hearts of countless gamers around the world. Developed and published by Antic Software, the game set out to take players on a thrilling adventure that blended elements of exploration with a bit of intense platforming.

As the name implies, the main goal of Gold Mine was to find, and collect, as much gold as possible each level. This was done by moving from one platform to the next while collecting treasure and avoiding the many traps and obstacles that popped up along the way.

Each level of Gold Mine brought its own unique challenges, from dodging detailed monsters and colluding adversaries, to figuring out how to make one’s way around complex mazes, and correctly timing jumps across precarious gaps and tightrope bridges. Through it all, though, a sense of excitement was always around the next corner.

In addition to being a fun platformer, Gold Mine also boasted amazing sound effects and incentive. To keep things fresh, the screen changed colour for every completed level, and the hero of the game was given bonus points for killing enemies. Furthermore, the reward for completing each level was higher than the previous one.
