Gradius is a video game in the action genre developed by Konami Industry Co. Ltd. and published by Konami Ltd. originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.
The inhabitants of Gradius are in trouble. The ameoboid Bacterions have launched an all-out attack on the planet, and it's up to you to fly into battle and save them. Along the way you'll be able to power up your ship with hyperdrive, force fields, lasers, missiles, dual beam cannons and more to help you in battle.
Gradius is a side-scrolling shooter. When you shoot certain enemies, you are left with an energy capsule that you can collect to add more power to your ship. Each level features a variety of enemies trying to stop you, with a big boss at the end. The game is either single player or two player, alternating.
