Description Gravity Well
Gravity Well is a single player shareware game based on Lunar Lander.
The objective of this game is to land a ship on each of the planet's bases to score points. A good, smooth landing under manual control earns more points than a landing achieved using the autopilot.
When all landings have been made, the player advances to the next planet and so on. Very good landings earn the player diamonds, which can be converted into fuel, allowing the player to advance further in the game.
The game documentation shows that after the initial release a number of additional features were added, not necessarily all in the same version, which include: Lateral (horizontal) movement is used to decide how hard you land, making it possible to land with vertical speed in the green, but with so much lateral speed that the landing gear is ripped off the ship. The landing gear can be repaired by landing within the green range. A badly damaged landing gear may require more than one landing to fully repair. Time trials As one progresses around the planet a stopwatch is kept and compared to an even time and to the record time for each planet, one for the combat game mode and one for the normal game mode. The player can drop bombs on the base to destroy it, but if the fuel tank is destroyed he will get no fuel on landing, and if the cannon emplacement is destroyed the player will get no more bombs.
