Great Escape is a video game in the action genre developed by Bomb and published by Bomb originally released in 1983. It is currently playable on Atari 2600.
In space shooters, you move your ship by moving the joystick in the direction you want. Hold down the button and move the joystick in the direction you want to shoot to shoot. You can shoot from the front, rear, left or right side of your ship.
As you progress, you can increase your speed in four levels. You can dodge or shoot at meteors, shoot at aliens (but be careful, they shoot back), and you must constantly run away from super aliens.
On the screen, you can see your score at the top, and just below it is a short-range scanner. This will show you, the alien, the meteorite, and if you encounter one, the super alien. Bottom left is the remaining ship (life) Bottom right is the speed indicator. Below center is the long range scanner. This will show you, the alien and the super alien, but not the meteorite.
When a super alien approaches, an alarm will sound. If you are caught by a super alien, you will not be able to move or shoot, and you will lose a life. The game ends when you lose all your lives or score 999. 999 points.
