Hideous

Hideous is a video game in the action genre and published by Alternative Software Ltd. originally released in 1992. It is currently playable on Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC.

In search of a new source of energy, scientists have been working on Delta radiation. This form of radiation is much stronger than previously thought and has begun to leak out of its container. This has caused the subway life forms to mutate. The mutants now want to destroy the plant and the world.

You have been chosen to drive a tank and enter the complex to destroy the mutants and stop the radiation leak. There is a source of the leak on four levels and you have to stop it on each level. To do this, you have to collect eight lead blocks one at a time and place them around the container. Once you have surrounded a container, you move on to the next level. Be careful, as your tank has limited fuel and ammunition. You can refill them with the icons scattered around the levels.

Hideous is a variable screen top-down view game. One screen shows a small part of each level. The joystick moves the tank while the fire button fires your gun. You have to get around various doors, paths and icons to find the main blocks. In addition to the main play area, you can also see your lives, your score, your ammo and your shield.
