Description Hilfe für Amajambere
A famine is ravaging villages on the slopes of the high plains in the center of the Amajambere region of Ubuntaka, Africa. The harvest is getting worse due to heavy rains that wash away the fertile soil and the sun that withers the crops during the growing season. To prevent people from leaving their villages and migrating to the capital Majikitoyo, 90 kilometers away, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ubuntaka government launched a project. Basically, the idea is to teach farmers multi-level plant cultivation to better preserve their land and increase the quality of the harvest for generations to come. After his predecessor was seriously injured, Paul Lerche from the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung is sent to Mihanatoke village to supervise the project, which is still meeting a lot of resistance from many farmers. In addition, seed theft prevents the villagers from planting anything.
In terms of gameplay, Hilfe für Amajambere is a serious but traditional point-and-click adventure. The player takes control of Paul Lerche trying to convince the villagers of the good the project will do and, at the same time, solve the problem of seed theft. Using the mouse, the player visits the various locations and looks at, picks up or combines the objects he finds in the game world to solve the game's many puzzles and advance the story. Since the game is an educational program aimed at children and young adults, it is also very dialogue-heavy.
Along with Paul's journal entries, the dialogues are used as a central way to educate the player on why growing plants at various levels is important, why people are resilient, what unique challenges they have to face in those regions every day, and many other lessons about Africa. Although they are usually multiple choice, most of the time, if the 'wrong' answer is chosen, the game automatically cycles through all the other options to get its message across and move the story forward.
