Hoodoo Voodoo

Hoodoo Voodoo is a video game in the action genre and published by Bug-Byte Software Ltd. originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

The evil forces of Kerllis IX are wreaking havoc throughout the Universe by invading planets and ravaging them. Kerllis IX's leader, The Mighty Alien Presence, and some of his troops, called Boolagrops, have invaded a planet, but they haven't realized that it is home to a superhero. The player takes on the role of the superhero as he tries to rid the planet of the invading force. The game is divided into three levels, each viewed from one side, and the first two levels are horizontal scrolling shooters. The last level is a single-screen shooter. There are seven skill levels (00 - 06) to choose from at the beginning of the game.

Your first task is to open a portal that allows you to collect the items needed to take on the evil leader, and to open it you have to collect seven Daggers of Power and place them at the portal entrance. You can only carry one dagger at a time and you pick it up on the far left side of the level and carry it to the far right side of the level. As you cross the surface of the planet there are waves of various aliens trying to kill you and if you touch one you lose one of your five lives. You have a laser beam to destroy the aliens when they attack you. Once you have placed a dagger, you have to fly back to the far left of the level to face another wave of aliens and repeat the whole process again. You have to place all seven daggers within a time limit or it's game over.

In the second level you have to collect five crosses and five pieces of garlic, but the problem is that they are invisible. You fly across the landscape from left to right or right to left as you search for these objects. When you are near an object, the bottom of the screen changes color and you can fly in that area until you find the required object. Again, waves of aliens try to destroy you, but you remain armed with your laser beam.

The last level is a single screen where you try to kill the powerful alien presence with a single shot. As the leader flies around the screen, so do his minions, but they are destructible, so you have to avoid them while trying to shoot the leader. You only get one shot and if you die, it's game over.
