Hope to Hopp

Hope to Hopp is a video game in the action genre and published by Markt & Technik originally released in 1993. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

Hope to Hopp is a small platform game, a mini-game made in only 2048 Bytes that won a '2KByter' contest organized by the German magazine '64'er' in 1993.

The player has to lead little Benny safely through 19 levels. Apart from water wells and awkwardly placed platforms, there are also flying cannonballs that don't make his way any easier. Benny can run left and right and can jump, but since he has no weapons or power-ups, he'd better avoid the cannonballs at all costs. When he is hit or fails on platforms, the game is over and the player has to start over from the beginning.

The game is a one-directional side-scroller that advances by itself at a steady pace, so the player has to be attentive to make the jumps in time. As the levels get longer and the placement of platforms becomes more complicated, the degree of difficulty increases. However, when the white clouds in the sky change color to cyan, the end of the level is near. Benny can then run to the right to exit the level and move on to the next one.
