Description Hope to Hopp II
Hope to Hopp II is a small platform game of only 5120 Bytes that was developed for the 5KByter section of the German magazine '64'er'. In the sequel to Hope to Hopp (1993) the player guides the little hero through 21 levels, avoiding water wells, dangerous chasms and four types of enemies: flying cannonballs, floating ghosts, crawling pigs and jumping octopuses.
The little guy can run left and right and can jump, but since he has no weapons or power-ups, he must avoid the hoards of enemies trying to knock him down. When he gets hit or misses platforms, he loses one of his eight lives. Once he has lost all of them, he has to start over.
The game is a one-way side-scroller that advances by itself at a steady pace, so the player has to be attentive to make the jumps in time. The degree of difficulty increases as the levels get longer and the placement of platforms becomes more complicated. However, when the character's color changes to cyan, the end of the level is near. You can then run to the right to exit the level and move on to the next one.
