International Athletics

International Athletics is a video game in the sports genre developed by True Emotions Software and published by Opera Soft S.A. originally released in 1992. It is currently playable on DOS.

Also known as Olympic Games 92 (the one published by Opera Soft), International Athletics is another collection of sports games in the style of Epyx's C64 classic Summer Games or MindSpan's Summer Challenge.

A pretty decent attempt by Spanish developer True Emotions, with all the classic events like long jump, javelin, 110 meter hurdles . . . eight in total. The gameplay is healthy for the hardware, as it avoids the usual joystick movements and focuses mainly on correct timing. The graphics and sound are OK, but the game falls short compared to the classics of the genre. The various trials usually end up all being the same in terms of gameplay: pressing right to set your speed, requiring a bit of timing and then hitting the fire button at the right moment, which very often is pure luck.
