Description Iridis Alpha

There is a war on the planet Iridis Alpha between the Zzyaxians and the Gilbies. The Zzyaxian hate the Gilbies and want to eliminate them, while the Gilbies just want peace. The problem is also that the Zzyaxian are stupid enough to want to destroy the planet, so they are stealing the planet's energy. The Gilbies have to fight back with the Gilby Robot Fighters (GRF) by killing the Zzyaxian to get their energy. This can be returned to the planet's core. A unique feature of the Gilbies is that they have a twin that lives at the bottom of the planet. Both twins have to be alive for both to survive. The problem is that only one Gilby can be active and the inactive one slowly decays. Switching between GRFs is essential for survival. Once the nucleus has enough energy, the Gilbies celebrate by playing their favorite sport, point-to-point racing.

Iridis Alpha is a horizontal shooting game viewed from the side. You control the GRF with a joystick and to change GRF you have to shoot a Zzyaxian that leaves a ring. To change rings you don't have to press the fire button. The point to point race is a game where you run up and down a vertical course. If you are tired or bored of the main games, you can pause the game and play a relaxing game called Made in France, which is a version of an old Jeff Minter game called Deflex.
