JCB Digger is a video game in the action genre developed by Acornsoft Limited and published by Acornsoft Limited originally released in 1984. It is currently playable on BBC Micro.
JCB Digger is a game in which the player controls a JCB 3CX Excavator Loader. It is played from a top-down perspective and travels in four directions, with the player being able to drive the vehicle freely around the islands in which it is set. On the islands there are meanies, blob-like creatures that the player has to put to sleep. There are two ways to do this. The first is to dig holes with the backhoe and, when the meanies enter the hole, the player has to quickly fill them up again with the shovel. The other way to get rid of one is to use the shovel to push it into a sea of salt water. If the player is not careful, the bad guys can capture the JCB and run away with it, resulting in the loss of a life.
If eight baddies are put to sleep, a new group will appear. The new ones are of a different color and can pass over the landscape that the previous color could not. In addition to capturing the baddies, the player can earn points by razing the landscape. There are three different types of scenery that can be shoveled: brush, swamp and rocky terrain. When the entire island landscape has been cleared, the player can move on to another island. There are two islands and the starting island is chosen at random.
