Kaze Kiri

Kaze Kiri is a video game in the action genre developed by Naxat Soft and published by Naxat Soft originally released in 1994. It is currently playable on TurboGrafx CD.

Princess Shizuhime has been kidnapped by a group of ninjas under the command of Genbu, and taken to the castle of the malevolent Lord Hiei. The brave young ninja Kaze is summoned by Lord Yoshikage and sent on a dangerous mission: to infiltrate Hiei's castle, defeat his henchmen and rescue Shizuhime.

Kaze Kiri is essentially a beat-em-up with some distinctive features. The gameplay consists of traversing fully linear side-scrolling areas, defeating normal enemies and bosses along the way. Before he can fight the boss of the stage, Kaze has to defeat a predetermined number of enemies, shown as a number of enemy health points at the top of the screen.

Kaze attacks with his sword when he is close to the enemy, or throws shurikens at him from afar. He can also block enemy projectiles by countering them with shurikens. Kaze can also disappear for a moment and reappear elsewhere. He can jump, crouch, somersault, and grab and throw enemies. Kaze's health regenerates over time if he is not hit repeatedly. Completing the game unlocks another playable character, the female ninja Suzu.
