KGB Superspy

KGB Superspy is a video game in the action genre and published by Codemasters originally released in 1989. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

In East Germany there is a group of scientists who want to defect to the West. The problem is that the authorities want them to stay to help develop a new weapon. You must fly five missions to help get these scientists to the West. In the first four missions you must pick up six scientists on each mission and take them to a safe house. In the fifth mission you must fly these scientists across the West German border.

The scientists will be out in the open waving their left hand. Watch out for soldiers disguised as scientists. You can tell them apart because they wave with their right hand. Of course they are not going to fly in without resistance. Soldiers, jeeps and tanks on the ground with soldiers with jetpacks in the air try to stop your mission.

KGB Superspy is a side-scrolling shooter game. The screen scrolls both left and right. You control your helicopter with the joystick while the fire button fires your cannon. To pick up a scientist you must bark at him. To release him you must land in the shelter (a grass-roofed hut). You only have a certain amount of fuel, but you can pick up jerry cans or land in a shelter to refuel. On the screen there are two arrows pointing left and right. These flash to show you the direction of the nearest scientist. You also see your energy bar, score, lives and how many scientists you have collected.
