Description KNOCKOUT
Ready to match reflexes with your Atari, mano a mano? Sports Illustrated lent its name to this first boxing simulator, which offers you an elevation of the ring and two boxers throwing three different punches. If you manage to hit your opponent's punch, you get a block; each unblocked punch scores a point. At least thirty headbutts in a round can earn you a technical KNOCKOUT, but that's the only KNOCKOUT available. Otherwise, it's five to fifteen rounds, which at three minutes per round can be a real endurance contest. Wear out a friend or a single joystick, or let the microprocessor take care of the two boxers. Footwork is simple, back and forth, but just like in the real ring, probably the key to the championship.
The score, rounds and time are displayed large enough above the game window that a quick glance tells you where you are, but your boxer will also grunt and drop his jaw every time he takes a punch. If you see that a lot, the bell will be a welcome sound, not to mention the thirty-second rest between rounds.
