Description Kyuketsuki Bokumetsu Sakusen

Kyuketsuki Bokumetsu Sakusen places the player in command of a vampire-hunting operation conducted after nightfall. The objective is to enter a haunted area, locate the vampires concealed within it, and destroy them before the danger spreads. The playfield is presented as a dark, enclosed maze of passages and chambers, with the player’s hunter shown as a small, clearly identifiable figure among the surrounding walls. Every movement must be planned carefully, since the narrow routes limit escape and the enemy may approach from more than one direction.

The hunter is controlled directly from the keyboard, moving step by step through the maze while searching for targets and useful positions. Vampires appear as hostile figures and advance through the same passages, turning an apparently empty corridor into a sudden confrontation. The player must bring the hunter into a suitable position and use the available extermination attack at the correct moment. A careless advance can leave the hunter surrounded, while hesitation allows the vampires to close in. Success depends on recognizing the layout, keeping track of enemy movements, and selecting routes that provide room to maneuver rather than simply moving toward the nearest target.

The visual presentation makes effective use of the Pasopia display’s limited colors and resolution. Dark backgrounds emphasize the bright maze lines, the hunter, and the contrasting vampire figures, giving the screen a stark night-time appearance. The playfield is arranged for immediate understanding, with walls and routes remaining visible while the action proceeds. There is little decorative scenery; the emphasis is placed on the changing relationship between the player character, the passages, and the approaching enemies. As the operation continues, the screen becomes increasingly tense, since each open route may serve either as a path toward victory or as an avenue through which the vampires can attack.

Sound is used sparingly, in keeping with the Pasopia’s simple audio capabilities. Short electronic tones accompany important actions and changes in the game, while movement and encounters are communicated primarily through the screen. The absence of elaborate music strengthens the lonely atmosphere of the mission and keeps attention fixed on the maze. Each attempt is compact but demanding, encouraging the player to improve through repeated operations. Careful observation, quick keyboard control, and economical movement are essential, making Kyuketsuki Bokumetsu Sakusen a tense early computer action game built around pursuit, escape, and the methodical elimination of its supernatural opponents.
