Lights Out

Lights Out is a video game in the adventure genre developed by XXv Productions and published by The Adventure Company originally released in 2004. It is currently playable on Windows.

This point-and-click adventure game is the successor to Dark Fall: The Journal, but it is not a sequel as such, since Lights Out! has completely different locations, story and characters.

You take on the role of Benjamin Parker, a cartographer, who has been commissioned to map the treacherous coasts and waters of Trewarthen, England. Over the centuries, many ships and fishing vessels have sunk there, claiming countless lives beneath the Fetch Rock Lighthouse. Your maps are expected to aid navigation through the fog in that area.

Upon arrival, your boss doesn't give you much information, except that the lighthouse light has suddenly gone out without explanation and that you must go investigate. Why him? Why now . . . in the middle of the night?

Heading to the dark Fetch Rock Lighthouse, he soon discovers that the three lighthouse keepers have disappeared without a trace. Reviewing the information left behind, Parker finds evidence of another presence: something (or someone) is here! Is the lighthouse haunted? What happened to the three men? Why did the lights go out? And, what is the real reason he was asked to come here?

To find those answers, Parker will find himself mystically transported to different periods of the lighthouse's timeline. Exploring in first-person 'Myst' style, he will interact with objects, reading materials and puzzles. Ambient sound effects, spooky shadows and eerie music add to the immersion factor.

Lights Out is available at a reduced price on the following websites and is no longer abandonware.
