Lingo

Lingo is a video game in the puzzle genre developed by SPC Vision B.V. and published by Philips Interactive Media Benelux B.V. originally released in 1997. It is currently playable on Windows, CD-i.

Lingo is a digital version of the TV show of the same name. Like the show, the goal is to guess a five-letter word. You are given only the first letter. After each and every attempt, you mark the correctly placed letter and the letter that is in the word but in a different place. The word is drawn blindly from a bag of balls. There are 17 balls, corresponding to the numbers on the bingo cards. The balls marked with a question mark allow the player to choose any number. Bonus points are awarded for completing a row or column. There are also three red balls, which can be passed to another player for a turn, and three green balls, which can be passed to another player for a turn. The green ball allows you to choose a different ball, and you can also win the jackpot if you get three green balls before the game ends. The game starts with two players, but after several rounds, the player with the most points wins the final. The game is in Dutch, so you will only see Dutch words; there are 15. 000 words in the game, with options for 6- and 7-letter games. It is officially licensed by the Dutch game show, so it features Dutch TV presenter François Boulangé.
