Liverpool

Liverpool is a video game in the action genre developed by Grandslam Entertainments Ltd. and published by Grandslam Entertainments Ltd. originally released in 1990. It is currently playable on Amstrad CPC.

The Amstrad CPC appears to be the only published version of Grandslam's original vision of a licensed Liverpool FC game (a Striker-style forced perspective 3D game appeared for 16-bit systems in 1992, and a slightly simplified top-view version for C64 a year later). A human player must represent Liverpool, and can play single matches of 1 or 2 players or an entire league. The second team always wears white. English Division 1 teams of the time are included, with their 11 starting players named. Assists are calculated and goal scorers are recorded.

The action is viewed from side to side, and uses a power bar to affect the strength of passes and shots: two bars move along the bottom of the screen in sequence, and must stop as close together as possible to produce good contact with the ball.

The ball sticks to the player's foot. Players seem to freeze occasionally, and sometimes two players get stuck together, and need a third player to move the ball. The view is very close, but a scan of the entire field is provided, as well as a running clock.
