Lovecraft Game

Lovecraft Game is a video game in the action genre developed by Cactus Software and published by Cactus Software originally released in 2008. It is currently playable on Windows.

This game originally had no title, and was submitted by Cactus in the TIGSource Commonplace Book Contest.
It is an extremely simple exploration and action game. You are a nameless wanderer in a nameless land populated by dangerous creatures and strange characters. Tree-lined streets stretch out in all directions, but it's up to you to follow them. The character is controlled with the WASD keys, and the camera and target reticle are moved with the mouse. If you get into trouble, you have a machine gun (LMB) and a shotgun (RMB) at your disposal. Both have unlimited ammunition.

From time to time, messages will appear on the screen relating to what your character has heard or thought. You can talk to non-hostile characters by approaching them. All text is displayed on 'cards' in the style of a silent movie. In fact, the whole game is like looking through a fisheye lens, covered in old black and white film, with degraded actions, dirt and particles. The visual effects look like hand-drawn sketches that have been mangled and animated.

The game ends when you die or have seen everything and talked to everyone; many of H. P. Lovecraft's ideas and themes appear.
