Mageslayer is a classic computer game released in 1997, developed by VR Designs and published through Strategic Simulations Inc. From the very start, the game made a splash with those into fast-paced, fantasy-filled action-adventure gaming.

Mageslayer follows the story of protagonist Azric, a demon slayer. As Azric, the player is tasked with rescuing the royal family and the kingdom of Dis from a horde of hell-spawned monsters. Players get to explore a unique fantasy world filled with numerous characters with which they can interact. This interaction is necessary, because Azric needs assistance in tracking down the demonic opponents.

One of the elements that made Mageslayer stand out from other real-time strategy games at the time was the level of interactivity with the environment. This included facilities to manipulate items and containers, cast spells on opponents, or fill containers with water or flame.

Even after all these years, the game is still enjoyable and explored by low- and high-skill players alike. Its graphics are surprisingly detailed for a game that is over two decades old, and with a difficult but achievable objective and a flexible game engine, it has sustained its value.

The soundtrack of the game also still stands the test of time. Created by the team at Studio X, Mageslayer's score decently matches up with the player's experience. Additionally, the characters are fully voice-acted, creating an immersive feeling for players.

Fans of old school gaming, fantasy titles, and action-adventure games are sure to enjoy Mageslayer's classic twists and turns as they venture through a demonic infested world to restore order.
