MLBPA Baseball is a video game in the sports genre developed by Beam Software Pty., Ltd. and published by Electronic Arts, Inc. originally released in 1995. It is currently playable on Game Gear.
MLBPA Baseball is the only Electronic Arts baseball game to come to the Game Gear. As the title indicates, it is licensed by the MLBPA, but not MLB, so it features real player names and stats, but the 28 teams have only generic names. Feature-wise, it is based on last year's game for consoles, but with updated rosters for the 1994 MLB season and graphics and controls tailored to the handheld's capabilities.
Available modes are exhibition games, playoffs, championship ('The Series') and a full 162-game season. All matches in a season can be played and season progress is stored via passwords.
Before a game, the roster and batting order can be freely set. During a game, players control all aspects: batting, pitching, fielding and running. Pitching allows different pitches to be thrown through the four directions of the D-Pad. Batters can hit or take a full swing depending on how long the button is pressed. The game also features pick-off play and base stealing.
