NeoHunter

NeoHunter is a video game in the action genre developed by Ronin Entertainment and published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment, Inc. originally released in 1996. It is currently playable on DOS.

After a meteorite strike causes the separation of California from the rest of the continent, the big companies of the future decide to invest in the decadent state. It is not long before the newly restored California asks for independence. And so Calia is created.

The player controls Rick Cage, a good-natured hunter who tries to continue the research left behind by his father after he was murdered. Conspiracies are everywhere in the wealthy but decadent state of Calia. The game begins after Senator McAllister, a close friend of Rick's father, is murdered in public. Rick seeks truth and revenge, and must work his way up the ladder of conspiracies by stopping hackers and drug suppliers to get to the top kingpins corrupting Calia.

NeoHunter plays like a cinematic shooter similar to the Virtua Squad series. It mixes puzzle solving and light resource management elements (such as collecting credits to get new weapons and equipment), and also allows the player to choose the next steps to take, making the experience almost linear.
