Nether Earth

Nether Earth is a video game in the strategy genre and published by Argus Press Software Ltd. originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC.

Nether Earth is a real-time strategy game set in the distant future. A war is being waged between humans and an ancient race of aliens called Insignia. On their mysterious planet there are four bases to capture: Kerberus, Tarras, Faretra and Diolkos. Use the factories to build giant battle robots, similar to Mech units from other games. Commanding the robots, capturing the factories and defeating enemies in real time are the player's main objectives.

The player controls a small flying robot, instead of the mouse cursor. With this robot the player can enter a factory to design a unique battle robot from parts such as wheels, anti-gravity, radar, laser gun or nuclear weapons. Then the player has to command the robot. The artificial intelligence works well at first, but in difficult moments it is possible to control the robot manually. As the balance of power changes with each conquered base, the player must also adjust his strategies and tactics.
