Nihilist is a video game in the action genre developed by Bits Corporation and published by Philips Interactive Media International Ltd. originally released in 1996. It is currently playable on DOS.
The premise of Nihilist is simple: The player controls a spaceship that has to overcome deathmatches in an arena called Kraal. The gameplay is a mix between the classic Beamrider and Star Wars games. In Beamrider the player is at the bottom of a grid and shoots enemies at the top. Star Wars has, among other things, a sequence in which the player flies in pseudo 3D through the Death Star.
In the 25 levels the player faces an enemy in each level. In addition, there are other ships that shoot both opponents and asteroids that split when shooting or give extras such as better armor. There are three stages: horizontal, vertical and spherical. Each fight costs credits, so the player has to collect money symbols during the fight. The soundtrack includes 17 songs from bands such as Dog eat Dog, Pop will eat itself and Sugar Ray and can be replaced by another music CD.
