One Bite Too Deep

One Bite Too Deep is a video game in the action genre and published by Reelax Games originally released in 1985. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

The Master has risen from his resting place thanks to The Brotherhood at a research station deep in an unknown country, high on a cliff. In addition to The Master, his minions have also come to life and are terrorizing the locals and sucking their blood. The player steps into the shoes of Oscar, who has been given the task of entering the Brotherhood's domain and returning The Master and his minions to their resting place. Oscar is armed with a dagger and a shield with limited powers, and with these items, Oscar must traverse the mazes that make up the cliff, the courtyard and the research station before finally confronting The Master.

As Oscar explores each location, various minions move around looking to kill Oscar, but can be driven away for a brief time with the dagger or shield before returning again. If Oscar is touched, a bar representing his blood will decrease and once it reaches zero, it is game over and there is also a bar representing the power of the shields. Once Oscar is at the research station, five items must be found in various locations before he is allowed to face the Master.

One Bite Too Deep is an arcade adventure with the game viewed from above at a high angle, with the screen scrolling as Oscar moves through the cliff and courtyard sections. The research station section is also viewed from an elevated angle, but is now sliding screen. There are six difficulty levels and if you complete the game you start over but at a higher difficulty. You can use the joystick or keyboard to control Oscar.
