Description Outer Ridge

Outer Ridge is a sadly forgotten Asteroids clone that was released as shareware in 1995.

Games Domain has the summary of this underdog: 'While it's no Terminal Velocity, or Lemmings 3-D, it's certainly one of the best ray-traced action games I've seen, especially with a ZIP file of only 969k. It's basically a cockpit perspective version of 'Asteroids' in 3-D, with large, well-traced metallic rocks (3D-Studio) flying in all directions. The 'explosions' graphics are better than DOOM, and even rival ROTT (get the dual O. R. guns before you judge it here). Also, the game is designed well enough to run flawlessly, even on slower systems. On my 486DX-50 the game ran completely smooth, and I can't imagine it would be much worse on a DX-33. The fast-paced techno soundtrack fits the game perfectly. The graphics alone are worth a try. If you have problems running the game, try booting it with HIMEM/EMM386 instead of QEMM.
