Parallax is a video game in the action genre developed by Sensible Software and published by Ocean Software Ltd. originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

Parallax was a classic game released by Commodore 64 in 1986. The game was unique in that it was the first to feature a scrolling playfield. This meant that the scenery would move along with the player as they traversed the level. It was a unique feature that would become a staple in many games to come.

Players assumed the role of a scientist, searching for a powerful artifact known as the Oracle of Delphi. Armed with a laser pistol, players would traverse through multiple levels in search of the Oracle, with the ultimate goal of retrieving it and ending the game. The game was full of enemies, such as robots, aliens, and other creatures, that the player had to battle in order to progress. Players had to use their wits and reflexes in order to survive each level and reach the Oracle.

The graphics of Parallax were quite simple compared to other games of the time. The game featured a limited color palette, with the majority of the graphics being made up of basic blocks and lines. This was a stark contrast to other games of the era, which featured detailed sprites and vibrant colors. Despite its limited graphics, the game received critical acclaim from gamers and critics alike.

Parallax was a unique and innovative game, and it helped to set the standard for scrolling playfields in future games. It was a great example of how a game could be enjoyable and engaging even with limited graphics and simple mechanics. Parallax is still remembered fondly by those who played it, and it is still an enjoyable game today.
