Description Parallax

Parallax was an early scrolling shooter video game released for the Atari 8-bit family of home computers in 1983. The player controls a spaceship scrolling horizontally across the screen while shooting at enemy ships and avoiding collision with them. The game is set in the year 2084 and the player is fighting against the forces of an evil empire known as the Kretonian Federation.

The player begins the game with three lives and can earn additional lives by reaching certain score thresholds. The game features eight different levels, each with its own unique enemy ship designs and patterns. The game becomes increasingly difficult as the player progresses, with faster enemy ships and more bullets on the screen at once.

The player's ship is equipped with a shield that can absorb enemy bullets and protect the ship from damage. The shield has a limited number of hit points, however, and will be destroyed if it takes too much damage. The player can also find power-ups throughout the game that will temporarily increase the ship's firepower or provide other benefits.

Parallax was well-received by critics and was praised for its fast-paced action and challenging gameplay. It was one of the first scrolling shooters on the Atari 8-bit platform and helped to popularize the genre. The game was later ported to other home computers and consoles, including the Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, and Nintendo Entertainment System.
