Pesten

Pesten is a video game in the strategy genre developed by HVB Software and published by HVB Software originally released in 1991. It is currently playable on DOS.

Pesten is a card game. In this version of the game the player plays against the computer. At the beginning of the game each player has seven cards. The player who gets rid of all his cards first wins. There is a card in the center of the playing field. At each turn the player places a card on the card in the center if it fits. A card fits if it is of the same suit or has the same number. When a player does not have a matching card, he has to draw a card from the stock.

Some cards have a special meaning. When a player plays a 2 or a joker, the other player has to draw 2 or 5 (in the case of a joker) cards, unless the other player also has a 2 or a joker and plays this 2 or joker. In that case, the first player has to draw 4 (2+2) or 7 (2+5) cards, unless he has a 2 or a joker, etc. When a player plays a 7 or an 8, he can play another card. Each card holds a jack, and the player who plays the jack can say which suit the next card should be.
