Description Pneumatic Hammers

You are Red O'Blair and you have arrived at the Lee Valley gold research base to prevent it from being destroyed by a rockslide. To get to the research gold, huge Pneumatic Hammers drive the pillars of a bridge into a riverbed, but the lever that controls the power of the hammers is broken and a new one is needed before the entire base is destroyed by the rocks. The only metal available to make the lever is, of course, gold, but you have to find it in the rocks, and only certain weights of gold are pure enough to make the lever.

You start at the top of the base, which is visible on the screen and from the side. The base descends downward and there are stairs and elevators that take you to each floor. First you have to get a metal detector on the second floor and then you can head out to find gold, but you have to use the pillars that hit the hammers to cross the river, so time is of the essence. Once you have found the gold, you can put it in your sack to weigh it and check its purity.

When you think you have the right amount of gold, you take it to the furnace to melt and fuse it. Gold that is not pure enough will disappear as you control the temperature between 980 and 1000 degrees. Once you have the lever, you can turn off the hammers and save the day. If you need more time in your quest for the crowbar, you can lift piles of logs with a crane over the pillars that the hammers are hitting.
