Power Down

Power Down is a video game in the action genre and published by Mastertronic Ltd. originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on Atari 8-bit.

The task in Power Down is to infiltrate a fortress built on an asteroid by the evil Argon, within a time limit of one hour. You have five ships, but there are many ways to lose one. Lazer beams and triangle beams activate and deactivate, so you have to plan and calculate to avoid them. Argoniks patrol the area, and are deadly to the touch - they can play to your advantage, however, as they activate some types of indestructible blocks on contact, changing the block frames from white to red as a signal to you.

Most doors are locked by default, and are activated by shooting their brown lids. They can be closed in the same way - it's a defensive tactic to block the Argoniks, but make sure you're not in the door's path as it closes. You can collect and activate shields to deflect and block various hazards, though the ultimate challenge is to complete the game without them.
