Power Surge

Power Surge is a video game in the racing / driving genre developed by MicroValue and published by Megaware Multimedia B.V. originally released in 2004. It is currently playable on Windows.

Power Surge is a drag racing simulation game that pits two cars against each other for acceleration and raw speed over a quarter mile; the two cars race side-by-side, not against each other, but against a set time.

Players start by choosing one of two cars and one of eight drivers, each with their own characteristics. They then choose between a race and a tournament. For the race, they choose between three tracks: Arrowhead Raceway in Georgia, Armadillo Dragway in Texas and Sunshine Beach Dragway in California. In a full season, you will race against random opponents, and if you lose, you will advance to the next round. At the end of the season, the champion trophy is awarded to the driver with the most points.

Winning races earns you money, which can be used to upgrade your car by replacing the engine, transmission, tires and suspension, or to buy a more powerful car.

Weather conditions correspond to sun and rain, and each track has a different surface, which changes the handling of the car.

There are three difficulty levels. Multiplayer mode allows up to eight players to compete against each other over a local area network. The game can be played with keyboard, joystick or steering wheel.
