Pray for Death

Pray for Death is a video game in the action genre developed by Light Shock Software s.n.c. and published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment (Europe) Ltd. originally released in 1996. It is currently playable on DOS.

This is one of the few fighting games that follows the Killer Instinct school of fighting, that is: lots of visual appeal, techno soundtrack and combo moves that allow you to string together dozens of hits.

Story-wise, the game puts you in the shoes of a deceased character among a gallery of several equally dead characters competing in hell in a tournament sponsored by Lucifer himself with the grand prize of returning to the mortal plane.

Characters include the standard slew of 'real' martial artists such as the Bruce Lee clone and the dominatrix, as well as some fantasy characters such as demons, Vikings, etc. each with their own range of special moves, combos and finishing moves.

Graphically, the game features some nifty gimmicks. The backgrounds consist of looping FMV and pre-rendered sprites with pyrotechnic effects, reflective water, etc. The camera zooms in and out of the fighters, etc.
