Premium Mah Jongg II

Premium Mah Jongg II is a video game in the puzzle genre and published by IDL Software GmbH originally released in 1993. It is currently playable on Atari ST.

Premium Mah Jongg II is a slightly improved version of Premium Mah Jongg. The most significant update is that all texts in the game are now in English, while the previous game was only in German. The gameplay has not changed, as the game is still traditional Mah Jongg with the 'Turtle' board configuration and many handy features.

The two game modes 'Solitaire', with no time limit, and 'Tournament', with different time limits, are accompanied by an offline multiplayer mode called 'Happening'. In this mode the game creates eight boards and the game saves them on any number of floppy disks. Each player participating in Happening receives one such disk and can start the game using that disk. The game presents the eight boards with a time limit of 3 minutes for each, and everyone's score is accumulated and the results are saved on the disk. According to the manual, the loser of the round has to invite everyone else to a Chinese restaurant.

Playing Mah Jongg usually ends in a board position where further progress is impossible. Premium Mah Jongg II now has a built-in solver that can determine if a certain position has a solution or can even restart the board itself and check if it is possible to be cleared at all.

The user interface was improved to support almost any Atari video hardware and now works even on graphics cards with very high resolutions. The high score table was expanded to 100 entries and there is an external conversion tool included on disk to convert old high score tables to the new format.
