Description Pro League Baseball

Pro League Baseball is an excellent text-based baseball simulator from Micro Sports. Officially endorsed by Major League Baseball USA. The game features complete rosters for the 1991 season, as well as all the standard features one would expect to find in a detailed baseball simulation.

This means league play, team management, detailed statistics, drafts, trades and accurately modeled stadiums. The game even has a good download feature for annual updates, though Micro Sports soon abandoned this feature, instead requiring people to purchase new games to use newer rosters. Although it focuses more on accurate simulation than bells and whistles, Pro League Baseball does not neglect this department. To animate the static, spreadsheet look of most of the screens, the game uses RealSound audio technology (the same as the early Access games) that allows digitized speech to be played from standard PC speakers. This is used as a running commentary to accompany the text description of what is happening during the games.

With my limited baseball knowledge, I can't vouch for the realism of the simulation, but baseball fans have spoken highly of the game to me.
