Protector

Protector is a video game in the action genre and published by Mastertronic plus originally released in 1989. It is currently playable on Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, Atari 8-bit.

Protector is a horizontal split-screen shooter in which one or two players attempt to get supplies to their base before bombing the other player's base to win the game. You are a trainee at the U. S. Army Helicopter Training School based at Fort Rucker, and to graduate as a helicopter pilot you must complete this final mission. Your helicopter is armed with a 30mm gatling gun, with limited ammunition, to fire at the other player and you must also watch your fuel levels. Upon landing at your base, you can resupply and refuel. If you are shot at while carrying supplies, they drop and you lose part of a damage indicator. If you run out of fuel, take too much damage or crash, you return to your base. Once you have collected enough supplies, they become a bomb that you must carry and drop on the other player's base to win the game. There are five skill levels to choose from (1-5).
