Golf's Best: St. Andrews - The Home of Golf
Golf's Best: St. Andrews - The Home of Golf is a golf simulation that allows you to experience the layout and character of one of the world's most famous courses, St. Andrews. Each hole is simulated exactly to scale. Included are undulations in the terrain, such as real hills and valleys found on the course, as well as trees, shrubs, water, sand and buildings. Wind also plays a role in the simulation. St. Andrews is a very windy course.
The game screen provides all the information needed to make a great shot. Each hole offers an aerial and side view. The wind on the course is shown by an arrow at the bottom of the screen that points to the direction the wind is blowing and where your ball will tend. The bigger the arrow, the stronger the wind. It also shows you where the ball is, how far you are from the pin, what surface you are on and what shot you are going to hit.
Up to 4 players can play at the same time. Enter your name. Select which type of tees you want to play from, Medal or Championship. Once selected, they will remain the same throughout the round. Choose the starting hole. If you press the Enter key without specifying the hole, you will start on the first hole. You are allowed to carry 14 clubs. One must be a putter. The club selection screen also tells you the prevailing wind speed and direction. This allows you to choose the correct clubs for the conditions. After choosing the club (C), choose the strength of the stroke (F). The strength of the stroke depends on the club used. The choices for irons and woods are full swing, three-quarters, half or quarter. For wedges and putter, you enter the strength as a number representing the number of feet. Your choices will be displayed. Specify the direction you want to hit the ball (D) and whether you want to hook or slice (S). Once you have completed your selections, press the '1' key to strike the ball.
The order of play is determined by honors, the player with the lowest score on the previous hole plays first. If you select hole 19, you will enter the clubhouse and your round will be over. Display the scorecard by pressing the '4' key. Have a good round.
