Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy
In 1932, Alexandre Valembois was a young explorer who, with his native friend Anonio Alverez, wanted to make a name for himself by exploring the mysterious Amerzone region. Befriending the natives of the region, he witnessed a strange ritual involving a giant egg of the famous white birds. Wanting to prove that the white birds existed, Alexandre stole the mysterious egg and betrayed the natives' trust. Upon his return to France, no one believed Alexandre or his diaries about the Amerzone. Sixty years have passed and the world has changed. World War II has come and gone, the Amerzone remains unexplored and closed to outsiders by its despotic leader, Anoino Alverez. Monsieur Alexandre Valembois is an old man at the end of his life, living alone in a lighthouse and wishing to right his wrong. At that moment, a young reporter comes to visit old Alexandre Valembois in connection with his adventures . . . .
Amerzone is a first-person adventure game, similar to Myst, that takes place between different rooms and zones. The player assumes the role of the reporter and must unravel the clues left by Monsieur Valembois, traveling through various picturesque locations and finally arriving in the fictional region of Amerzone. The adventure game takes place in a series of zones. The player can click on arrow icons to change orientation or move to different zones. Objects of interest turn the cursor into a magnifying glass icon. Objects that can be interacted with or picked up change the cursor to a hand icon. A gear icon represents a mechanism that must be manipulated before it can be used properly. The player's inventory can be accessed at any time.
