Hunchy

An unlicensed Hunchback clone, it stays close to its source material, having Quasimodo run and jump through a side-scrolling medieval setting to rescue Esmeralda. Though it lacks the Tarzan-like rope-jumping and time-limit-imposing pursuing soldier in other versions, its 25 levels feature a wide array of conventional humpbacked threats: rolling boulders and guards' pikes to jump over, arrows to duck under, and an exceptional threat relatively unknown in medieval Paris: ominous acid raindrops. As you progress, you will be able to risk them one at a time and, finally, following the classic Hunchback formula, all together.

The Thompson Twins Adventure

The Thompson Twins were a popular 1980s pop music trio that took their name from the Tintin comic book. In issue 36 of Computer & Video Games magazine, dated 10/84, a free flexi-disc was attached to the cover containing a message from the group and this adventure game program printed in the grooves. Commodore 64 owners had to mail in an order to receive their free flexi-disc. The program could be loaded into the Spectrum by connecting a cable from the turntable's headphone jack to the computer's EAR input. Otherwise, you could record the contents of the disc on a cassette player and load the cassette into the computer (this was the only way for the Commodore 64). The story is related to their hit single 'Doctor! Doctor!' and begins with the Thompson twins on a beach and then in a cave. Typical of text adventures, direction commands are introduced: north, south, east, west, as well as inside, outside, up, down. Other commands such as look, pick up, read, dig and inv (to see what objects you have in your inventory) are also useful. You must find the objects you find along the way and use them when necessary. As part of the promotion, whoever managed to beat the quest and find the secret of the Doctor's potion before November 16, had the chance to win a backstage meeting with the band at one of their concerts and other prizes. Due to delays in the production of Commodore 64 flexi-discs, the deadline was extended to December 31 for those computer owners.
