Reaxion

Reaxion is a classic returning to life in the digital age. This Atari 8-bit game was released in 2005, and its engaging graphics and challenging levels ensures that it stands up to the test of time. Players taking on Reaxion have to conquer eccentric enemies and dodge their attacks in order to progress rapidly through the levels. The aim of the game is to keep the energy ball moving as quickly as possible, while avoiding the various dizzying obstacles along the way. Reaxion's vibrant colors contrast nicely with its gray-scale backgrounds, providing a stark reminder that this game can be intense, with a wide range of explosive and other surprises. Reaxion moves across four vertical and four horizontal lines. Players must manage two paddles which constantly move in tandem. To win, players must use their intelligence and lightning-fast reflexes to guide the ball to its destination. Enemy attacks in the form of obstacles and other nasty surprises must also be avoided, making the game even more challenging. The matching segment of the game is a unique treat for players as they can match the objects with colors and rotate them, scoring points as they go. By collecting the dots, players are able to speed up their shots and gain energy orbs. Color matches allow players to take advantage of special powers and rack up bonus points. Reaxion boasts an extensive scoring system with multipliers to give players a chance to beat their high score. Moreover, Reaxion offers a true challenge as enemies are always on the move. The score meter keeps track of the progress, so be sure to keep the momentum going. With its amazing sound effects, retro graphics, and an old school gaming feel, Reaxion is the perfect game for anyone looking to go back in time and have some fun.

ViColumn

VIC-20 2005
ViColumn is, as you might guess, a reimplementation of Sega's Columns for the VIC-20. The three-color blocks arranged vertically, out of a palette of four, come falling from above, and must be placed at the bottom or on top of another block. By pressing the fire button, you can rotate the colors within the block to match the colors of other blocks already placed on the screen. If three or more adjacent blocks have the same color in a row or column, that color block is removed, making room for more blocks. Careful placement of blocks can result in chain reactions. However, unlike the original Columns, this implementation does not recognize diagonal color combinations.
