Alien Legion

Amiga 1989

Alien Legion is a side-scrolling platform shooter similar to Hewson's Exolon which was released a few years earlier. Earth has been attacked and invaded by the evil forces of Marania. All the soldiers on the planet have been taken prisoner, except for one, Captain Cosmose, who happens to be the player. It is now up to him and his Sycho laser gun to save the world. The gameplay consists of walking from left to right, shooting the various enemies that appear in the player's path and jumping between platforms to find the correct route and avoid falling into a pit. Enemies range from normal aliens, battleships, aliens riding strange vehicles to more abstract flying things. Sometimes potions appear from the dead aliens, which can be green or red. If the player touches a green potion, he regains some health, but if he touches a red one, he loses some. When he runs out of health, one of the three lives is lost.

In a distant land, an evil force is in control, and you set out with the intention of setting things right. Immediately you see signs of desolation and environmental failure, with lifeless and malnourished people everywhere. However, you must not give up; your friend who lives in the midst of it all needs your help. With a full graphical representation of events and locations, this interactive fiction can be played solely with the keyboard, but the lower half of the screen contains some mouse interaction for directional input. You can move in four directions, examine and pick up objects, talk to people and solve puzzles.

Tech

Amiga 1989

Tech is a light cycling game in which the kingdom of Techmania is threatened by the evil lord Caraz. The latter sends his Techcyclists (the targanoids) to defeat the king's elite squad, of which the player is the last surviving member. To save the kingdom, the player has to win all the battles against the enemy drivers. There are 25 levels in total and in each level the player has to kill all the opponents by trapping them so that they crash into a wall or one of the cycle tracks. The player has three lives and when they run out there is an option to continue to keep attempting the level. The levels get progressively more difficult with more enemy drivers and obstacles such as turrets, walls and ditches. The game also has a two player mode.
