Distributed free to students, Surf 'm Up is a little game inspired by Kaboom! from Dutch brewer Dommelsch.
The premise is simple: four cranes in a brewery spill drops and you, an empty beer glass, must collect each drop. Controlled by keyboard or mouse, the game is a test of reflexes. Each drop collected gives 5 points; 45 points will take you to the next section; after three sections you will advance to the next increasingly difficult level.
Watch out for sugar cubes, peanuts, matches and falling darts; you can only resist them three times. Also watch out for a little green caterpillar that tries to hinder your progress in every possible way. Help comes in the form of a bell that announces 'happy hour' mode, making your glass of beer invulnerable for a couple of seconds. Another aid is a sponge that appears from time to time. Jumping on it wipes up all the spilled drops.
Users were encouraged to save their best scores on a blank disk and send them, accompanied by a slogan, to Dommelsch. The top ten scores would receive video game prizes.
