Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
Sanjuro is a commander of the United Corporate Authority army and pilot of a Mobile Combat Armor (a giant mech) in the distant future. The UCA fights against the Fallen, a terrorist organization. This conflict has its victims: Sanjuro's brother, best friend and girlfriend died while on a mission years ago, and he has only recently managed to put the past behind him. Now Sanjuro is given the mission to find and kill Gabriel, a new leader of the Fallen. But during this mission, ghosts from the past will come back to haunt him.
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division is a first-person shooter game that incorporates ideas from anime and the MechWarrior concept. In some levels, the player controls Sanjuro while on foot, infiltrating enemy buildings and fighting with hand-held firearms. Sanjuro can find health boosters, more powerful weapons and ammunition. Both Sanjuro and enemies will perform random criticals, which not only cause more damage, but also replenish a small portion of health.
In other levels, the player pilots one of the four available MCAs, which differ somewhat in their characteristics. This gigantic mech can walk, jump and crouch like a human being, and its control is very similar to that of Sanjuro. The player guides this colossus through city districts plagued by enemy soldiers and mechs. It is also possible to transform the mech into a vehicle, although it cannot defend itself in that state.
The story progression is linear for the most part. However, at one point, the player is asked to make a decision that will affect the rest of the plot and the ending.
