Move It 2

DOS 1993
Move It 2 is a classic 1993 DOS computer game developed by Rainbow Arts. This puzzle game pits the player against the computer in levels of increasing difficulty. In Move It 2, the objective is to move differently shaped blocks on a game board in order to link two matching symbols at the respective ends. Players must move the blocks one at a time, careful to observe all the rules of the particular level. To win, the player must strategically and carefully negotiate the blocks around the gameboard so that they connect the two symbols, allowing the level to complete. This game contributes a lot of challenge for players to make their spatial skills sharper. It requires the player to carefully judge the patterns and spot a potential move to perform. When blocks are lined up and the two symbols coincide, the player is allowed to go to the next level. The player must make sure all the rules for each level are followed in order to win and complete the game. Along its intense level design, Move It 2 also shines with its attractive visuals which reflect the kind of CGA graphics available back in 1993. The game offers one color palette with Suzie's colorful blocks, making the game fun to watch. The animations are also smooth and fluid, and the audio effects fit perfectly with the sound and graphics. The challenge of Move It 2 can be set on several levels of difficulty. The game offers from easy to hard levels, making it highly configurable and adjustable to the needs and competence of the player. There is also a two-player version included, so that one can have a nice match with a friend on the same computer. Move It 2 is a fun and visually attractive DOS game, which makes the player use all their spatial skills in order to solve the puzzles. With its lively graphics and sound effects, the game is still today a fun experience to be had.

No Name

Atari ST 1989
No Name is a game in which you are controlling a bubble with the joystick in a quest to explore rooms and find a way out of a maze. The bubble can be controlled by pressing the button and the joystick up, but without constantly pressing up the bubble is losing height. Gaining height costs energy and you must avoid running out of control of your bubble. Any contact with walls or obstacles causes the player to lose one of five lives. There are doors that constantly open or close, switches to press to open other doors and teleporters that take you to other rooms. In total there are 27 rooms. Once the player has lost all lives, a statistic is displayed about the percentage of rooms explored and - if enough points are scored - an entry in the highscore table can be reached. There is a continue function that allows you to start a new game in the last room that was lost in the previous game. The game is written in GFA Basic and the source code is also available on disk.

San Largo und die Insel

DOS 1993
The DOS game San Largo und die Insel was released in 1993 by German developer Software Design GmbH. Set in Spain, the game combines the adventuring and educational genres, adding elements of resource management and strategy. The game features a top-down perspective and is played by controlling the characters of San Largo, father and son, as they search for treasure. One point of interest is that the goal of the game is to collect enough money to purchase an island upon which you can build a summer home. Players are given a set of resources including crates of goods for trade, boats to ferry materials from one port to the next, and a farmer to plant and tend to crops. To acquire the funds necessary to purchase the island, players must be strategic in their decisions. Choices such as where to set up a trading post, what goods to grow on the farm, and which paths to follow, are all important as time is of the essence. The game also features some mini-games such as fishing or the construction of a bridge. In addition, there are numerous NPCs (Non-Playable Characters) who can be interacted with. With some offering important information, and others providing useful items or services. San Largo und die Insel is a fun and unique experience. The combination of adventuring, strategy, and resource management, makes for a game that is sure to challenge and engage players. While the core mechanics are simple, the way they are implemented can lead to some truly interesting and creative solutions. If you’re on the lookout for an entertaining and educational game, San Largo und die Insel may be the perfect choice.

Walls of Illusion

Atari ST 1993
Walls of Illusion is a role-playing game similar to Dungeon Master and other dungeon crawlers. Your party of four starts with nothing. No weapons, no armor and no spells. So you must collect them before entering combat. As the enemies are superior, the use of tactics becomes more important. You will encounter a lot of traps and other obstacles during your journey through the dungeon. As is normal in role-playing games, you will gain experience for defeating your enemies and after a while you will reach a new level.
